Stress reveals its effects on the body in different ways. Each of us has our own constitutional weakness. When we are under stress, it weakens our immune system, and targets our body's weakest link. That weak link may be a particular organ that is genetically vulnerable, or tissue that has suffered a past injury. For example, those who have suffered a knee injury may experience knee pain when they are under stress. Those with a genetic predisposition to cardiovascular disease may experience high blood pressure, rapid heart beat, or shortness of breath as a result of being stressed, whereas, those with an inherent tendency towards diabetes may experience blurred vision, tingling in the extremities, or reoccurring bladder infections. Stress can disguise itself as a migraine, an ulcer, or a even yeast infection. If your weak link happens to be your skin, you may be prone to herpes outbreaks, eczema, psoriasis, or even acne. Weak links aren't limited to one symptom or condition. Learning to manage your stress means learning to manage your health, and possibly your skin.
