DOES PICKING CAUSE ACNE SCARS...

The solution for acne scars in Chico, Ca... don't pick and see your acne specialist for scar treatment.

Picking can cause inverse ruptures where the the bacteria spills down into the, "should be sterile dermis" causing an immune response and disruption of the collagen and elastin matrix. The result is indentation scarring.

Even if there's no inverse rupture of the follicle, picking often leads to gouging out a chunk of skin in an attempt to annihilate the pimple or blackhead. This too, can lead to unnecessary acne scarring.

The vast majority of the time we make our skin worse by picking at it. Once you start, it's hard to walk away from the mirror - so just don't start!

Too cold - won't remove the oils as effectively, which hinders product penetration.

TO SCRUB OR NOT TO SCRUB...

Scrubbing at your acne with an acne facial scrub in Chico feels so rewarding that it's hard to believe it can actually do more harm than good.

Scrubs can be beneficial for thick, oily, resilient skin types with non-inflamed acne. A scrub should NOT make your skin feel sensitive or tender - at all.

The key to using a scrub is to gently float it underneath your finger tips with very little pressure. Too much pressure and you will damage your skin's barrier function and accelerate the aging process. Using scrubs on inflamed acne WILL make it worse - don't do this!

Not all scrubs are the same. Look for finely milled scrubs. Under a microscope, it's appearance should have rounded edges NOT jagged. How do you know??? Avoid over-the-counter products and stick with professional or medical grade lines.
