GLYCEMIC INDEX FOR BREAKOUTS...

Controlling blood sugar helps control breakouts in Chico. Get familiar with the glycemic index to learn which unsuspecting foods may be contributing to acne flare-ups.

The glycemic index is a value that is assigned to each food based on how fast that particular food increases your blood sugar.  Eating foods low on the glycemic index keeps blood sugar stable and helps reduce breakouts. 

EXAMPLES OF HIGH GI FOODS:
-potatoes
-white rice
-white bread

EXAMPLES OF LOW GI FOODS THAT CAN REPLACE THE FOODS ABOVE:
-sweet potatoes
-brown rice
-high fiber, whole grain bread (i.e. 4g fiber/slice)
