EATING, BREATHING & ACNE...

How many times have you heard that relaxing during a meal improves digestion?  We're supposed to slow down, sit down, and take a few deep breaths before we eat. Enjoy our meal. Hang out a while. Why don't they ever tell us WHY? I mean, if we understood it - we might actually start doing it.

When you relax (especially if you take a few deep breaths) it stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system (AKA: rest & digest), which sparks the vagus nerve, which goes straight to the stomach and tells it to release gastric juices. If you don't relax when you eat you're more likely to experience bloating, gas, increased levels of bad microbes, toxicity, and it can make you more prone to food sensitivities. There are many of us out there, who will experience eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and yes, acne - when the gut is out of wack. So next time you eat, take a few deep breaths and enjoy!
