Mandelic acid, derived from bitter almonds, is unique among alpha hydroxy acids. In addition to exfoliating dead skin cells and decongesting the pores of acne-prone skin, it is a potent antibacterial. This makes it a top contender in the war against acne in Chico. It also has a larger molecular structure than other AHAs, which means it's gentler on the skin, less likely to cause irritation, and typically a good choice for sensitive skin types.
