EATING FOR CLEAR SKIN...

An anti-inflammatory diet can help control inflamed pimples in Chico, Ca. Inflammatory foods are typically the foods we love the most... animal protein, french fries, pasta, bread, pastries, ice cream, cheese, processed/fast/junk foods, sweets, etc. If you are prone to acne or have a genetic predisposition, inflammatory foods will be a major trigger for breakouts.

To effectively treat acne, a well rounded approach including products, treatments, lifestyle & diet are necessary. Eating an abundance of vegetables throughout the day as well as low glycemic index fruits like berries and cherries will help drive down the internal inflammation. Almonds, walnuts macadamia nuts as well as fatty, cold water fish including wild caught salmon, anchovies, sardines, white fish are also highly beneficial.

The ideal anti-inflammatory diet is 80% anti-inflammatory and 20% inflammatory (80/20), but 70/30 or 60/40 is a good first step. While 80/20 isn't always realistic for people on the go, incorporating salads, veggie snacks, raw nuts, fruit & fish (not deep fried or fish sticks ;) - will go a long way AND give you more energy!

For lunch, instead of a burrito or deli sandwich, try a BIG salad loaded with veggies, raw nuts, grilled salmon and an olive oil based dressing. Remember, protein and fat satiate. They are also critical for hormone balance & cell turn over - the process of dumping old, unhealthy cells and bringing new, fresh cells to the surface.
