SWAP THE DAIRY...

When it comes to food, one of the biggest acne triggers in Chico is dairy. Even the things one might consider healthy like raw, organic milk and cultured yogurt, are triggers. For those who don't have a genetic predisposition towards acne, it's not a problem, but if you battle with breakouts - it's time to drop the dairy.

It's the cow hormones that stimulate oil glands, so eggs are alright to eat, and aren't considered dairy, anyway.

Fortunately, there are a lot of tasty alternatives these days... almond milk, soy milk, rice milk, hemp milk. These are all great replacements that will get you one step closer to being acne-free. Even a little dairy in your coffee can trigger breakouts. Be cautious of hidden dairy in items like protein bars, salad dressings, smoothies, pastries, and pancakes (this is good spot to mention coffee, sugar & high glycemic index foods/drinks are all acne triggers).
