ACNE: LIMIT SUN EXPOSURE...

ACNE SKINCARE CHICO, CA     916SKIN - ACNE & WELLNESS CLINIC

Limit time spent in the sun. Certain acne medications make the skin more sensitive to sunlight. The sun's UV rays increase inflammation, redness and skin sensitivity whether you are taking acne medications or not. So, for those who are taking acne meds, sun exposure is a double whammy!

For those who have inflamed acne, the sun's UV rays will make the inflammation worse and increase your chances of PIH (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation). PIH is the dark brown or red spot left on the skin after a pimple heals. If you already have PIH, sun exposure will only make it worse.

Choose early morning or late afternoon sun. Well before 10AM and after 3PM. Always wear a physical sunscreen with an SPF of 30 regardless of the time of day or weather conditions! Wear hats and protective clothing to protect your acne-prone zones.
