ACNE PEELS WITH STRONTIUM NITRATE...

GLYCOLIC PEELS FOR ACNE CHICO, CA     916SKIN - ACNE SKIN CARE

Strontium nitrate is a chemical agent that can be used to suppress sensory irritation in peeling agents. In other words, it's an anti-irritant. Glycolic acid peels, while effective for acne, actinic keratosis, pigmentation and texture, often cause burning, stinging and/or itching upon application. However, when strontium nitrate is compounded with glycolic acid  for use as a chemical peel, it significantly reduces the level of irritation that often accompanies this type of peel. The addition of strontium nitrate allows the sensory nerves to tolerate much higher concentrations of glycolic acid (ie: 50% - 70%). This sensory tolerance can be deceiving for some and should be used with caution as strontium nitrate does not inhibit inflammation, it only numbs the pain. To avoid a chemical burn that results from inflammation , make sure your skincare practitioner applies a test spot to monitor your skin prior to applying the peeling agent.
