DOES SMOKING CAUSE ACNE...

ACNE CURE CHICO, CA     916SKIN - ACNE SKIN CARE

The operative word here is "trigger."
The underlying cause of acne, is in part, genetic, and in part, unknown. Triggers, on the other hand, are abundant, and smoking is one such trigger. The reason being, stress

Stress weakens the immune system, and anything that weakens the immune system in the acne-prone person can result in a acne. Our bodies interpret stress triggers differently. Meaning, what one person's body interprets as stressful, another person's body may not. As an example, some individuals require 8 to 9 hours of sleep each night in order to maintain health and vitality; whereas, other individuals may only require 5 to 6 hours a night to maintain health and vitality. Now, if you are one of these people who need 8 to 9 hours of sleep, then not getting enough rest creates physiological stress that has the potential to trigger an acne flare-up. Meanwhile, your best friend is getting straight As and taking home medals at the swim meet on very little sleep and a glowing complexion. Irritating, I know.

Here's where biochemical differences come into play. Your best friend may thrive on 5 to 6 hours of sleep, but smoking a single cigarette may trigger a breakout. Whereas, someone else prone to acne, may be able to smoke a pack a day with few repercussions on their skin due to their biochemical individuality.
